Cut
What is meant when people discuss the cut of a diamond? This means the diamond’s geometric proportions. Have you ever wondered how the final shape of a diamond is determined? Well when the diamond is cut it takes its final shape and all of the facets are created. There are generic cuts that you can get but you an also choose from a variety of cuts, or make your own. Different cuts will hold different value, so know what you are looking for.
Clarity
Do you enjoy how the diamond sparkles when they are put on a ring? If you like this then you like the clarity. Clarity is a measurement of the flaws of the diamond, as well as inclusions within the diamond. Clarity goes from Flawless to Very Very Slight (VVS), Very Slight (VS) and Slightly Included (SI). The clearer the diamond the more sought after it will become. It is also very rare to find a diamond that does not have a minor inclusion in it.
Carat
When you talk about carats you are talking about the weight of your diamond. This is how you can classify small diamonds and large diamonds. In terms of weight measurements we use daily, one carat is equal to 200 milligrams. The more carats the more weight the diamond has. Now you know the unit of measurement for diamond weight.
Color
The color scale for diamonds is a bit different from a classic color scale. In regards to diamonds it means transparency. This scale will run from D to Z, and will begin with Icy White. This is the most expensive of the transparent diamonds. The end of the scale will be a light yellow. Take a look at this scale before you go buy, just so you do not get overpriced.
